About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will learn to provide patient care while assisting the pharmacy team. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain experience in pharmacy operations and customer service. This role is designed to help you develop the skills needed to perform as a future pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy team in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient information and process prescriptions.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and helping resolve issues.
- Perform tasks related to entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Support pharmacists in delivering patient care services, such as counseling and medication therapy management.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments.
- Keep the pharmacy department clean, orderly, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Register sales on the cash register and handle cash transactions.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Complete all required training and maintain knowledge of pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
