About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the daily operations of our pharmacy while gaining hands-on experience in clinical and retail services. You will work closely with the pharmacy manager to maintain efficient workflows, manage inventory, and provide direct patient care. This role focuses on transitioning pharmacy services from transactional tasks to interpersonal patient engagement.
What you'll do#
- Consult with patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
- Perform core pharmacist tasks, including compounding, drug therapy reviews, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Deliver clinical and wellness services, such as administering immunizations.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with staff hiring, training, and performance coaching.
- Resolve insurance claim issues and coordinate with medical providers to clarify prescriptions.
- Participate in community outreach to promote pharmacy services.
- Maintain proficiency with pharmacy systems like Intercom Plus, registers, and StoreNET.
- Support pharmacy financials and inventory management processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or pursuit of a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Experience with prescription dispensing and a working knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
- Status as a Certified Immunizer or the willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
