About the role#
This is a full-time Pharmacy Intern position based in Muscatine, Iowa. You will work on-site to support pharmacy operations, provide clinical services, and assist the pharmacy manager with daily tasks. This role is paid and follows a rolling application schedule.
What you'll do#
- Consult with customers on medication usage, drug interactions, and potential side effects.
- Provide preventive healthcare services, including immunizations and flu shots.
- Handle the compounding, dispensing, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Support pharmacy workflow and help the pharmacy manager with inventory management and financial performance.
- Engage with customers to resolve issues and offer assistance.
- Operate pharmacy systems such as Intercom Plus, registers, and StoreNET.
- Process insurance claims and follow up with medical providers or insurance companies to resolve issues.
- Assist with staff hiring, training, and performance coaching.
- Participate in community outreach to promote pharmacy services.
What you'll need#
- You must be willing to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution before your start date.
- You must be willing to obtain pharmacist licensure from the state Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- You must be a certified immunizer, or willing to become one within 90 days of hire.
