About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy team by assisting with daily operations and patient care. You will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to learn pharmacy systems, process prescriptions, and gain experience in a retail setting. This is a part-time, on-site role based in Johnston, Iowa.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy staff with entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions according to state and federal regulations.
- Use pharmacy systems to manage patient and drug information.
- Engage with customers by answering questions, resolving issues, and offering assistance with products.
- Help pharmacists and healthcare providers deliver patient care and services.
- Handle cash register transactions for pharmacy sales.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked pharmacy department.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Handle incoming telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
- Complete all required training and follow company policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing and asset protection.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, which includes evening and weekend hours.

- Compensation for this position ranges from $19.50 to $31.00 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and education.
