About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will learn to provide patient care by assisting the pharmacist and pharmacy team. You will gain hands-on experience with pharmacy systems, policy, and procedures to prepare for a career as a pharmacist. This role operates under the supervision of a pharmacist in accordance with state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Engage patients by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient information and process prescriptions.
- Assist with entering, third party processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Support pharmacists in delivering patient care services like medication therapy management and blood pressure checks, within your state scope of practice.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
- Handle pharmacy telephone calls and assist with inventory management, including ordering and unpacking shipments.
- Register sales on the cash register and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
