About the role#
This is a part-time, on-site Pharmacy Intern position in Taylor, Michigan. You will work under the guidance of the pharmacy manager to support daily operations, clinical services, and patient care. This role focuses on gaining hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while supporting the health needs of the community.
What you'll do#
- Consult with patients about medication usage, potential drug interactions, and preventive healthcare services.
- Perform compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Support efficient pharmacy workflow and assist the pharmacy manager with daily operations.
- Engage customers to provide assistance, resolve issues, and model excellent service standards.
- Counsel patients on side effects, contraindications, and over-the-counter products.
- Maintain pharmacy information technology systems and ensure accurate processing of insurance claims.
- Perform clinical and wellness services, including immunizations.
- Analyze performance data and assist with inventory management.
- Build relationships with the local medical community and assist with staff training.
- Keep your clinical knowledge current through journals and required training modules.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the state Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Current certification as an immunizer or willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
