About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will learn to provide patient care while assisting the pharmacy team. You will follow state and federal regulations to support the daily operations of the pharmacy department. This role is designed to help you gain practical experience and develop the skills needed to perform as a future pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy team members with daily tasks.
- Use pharmacy systems to retrieve patient information and process prescriptions.
- Enter, fill, and dispense prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Deliver patient care services, including medication therapy management and patient counseling, within your state scope of practice.
- Handle pharmacy inventory, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain the pharmacy department by keeping it clean, stocked, and organized.
- Register sales on the cash register and handle non-clinical telephone calls.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Complete required training and stay updated on pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
