About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work on-site to support pharmacy operations and patient care. This role involves balancing clinical responsibilities with customer service and administrative tasks to ensure the pharmacy runs efficiently. You will work closely with the pharmacy manager to oversee daily functions and contribute to the overall health services provided to the community.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding medication usage and preventive healthcare.
- Perform compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with staff training, hiring, and optimizing pharmacy financials.
- Engage with customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products or services.
- Maintain pharmacy systems and ensure accurate processing of insurance claims.
- Perform clinical and wellness services including immunizations, flu shots, and diabetes awareness screenings.
- Participate in community outreach to promote pharmacy services.
- Model and share customer service best practices with the team.
What you'll need#
- Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Experience performing prescription dispensing activities.
- Strong working knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
- Must be a certified immunizer or willing to become one within 90 days of hire.
