About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Walgreens, you will support the daily operations of the pharmacy while gaining hands-on experience in a clinical retail setting. This full-time, on-site role focuses on patient care, medication management, and pharmacy workflow efficiency. You will assist the pharmacy manager in maintaining high standards of service and operational compliance.
What you'll do#
- Counsel patients on medication usage, side effects, drug interactions, and over-the-counter products.
- Perform clinical and wellness services, including immunizations, flu shots, and diabetes awareness screenings.
- Manage the compounding, verification, and dispensing of prescribed medications.
- Assist with pharmacy financials, inventory management, and the accurate processing of insurance claims.
- Engage with customers to provide assistance, resolve issues, and promote positive service experiences.
- Support the pharmacy manager with staff training, hiring, and performance coaching.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with local medical providers and the broader healthcare community.
- Ensure all pharmacy operations adhere to company policies, state regulations, and federal laws.
What you'll need#
- You must be working toward a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution.
- You must be willing to obtain pharmacist licensure from the state Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of your hire date.
- You must be a certified immunizer or willing to complete certification within 90 days of hire.
