About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will learn to provide patient care while assisting the pharmacist and pharmacy team. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain experience in pharmacy operations and customer service. This role is designed to help you develop the skills needed to perform as a future pharmacist while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations, including entering, processing, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Engage with patients by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues to provide a positive experience.
- Support patient care services, such as medication therapy management and health screenings, within your state scope of practice.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, unpacking, and organizing shipments.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
- Handle pharmacy telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
- Process sales on the cash register.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
