About the role#
This is a paid, full-time Pharmacy Intern position for Summer 2027. You will work on-site in Carmel, Indiana, gaining hands-on experience under the supervision of a pharmacist. The role focuses on learning pharmacy operations, patient interaction, and clinical support within the scope of state regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist with daily operations, including entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Engage with patients by answering questions, resolving issues, and providing assistance with products and services.
- Handle telephone calls and manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering and unpacking shipments.
- Maintain the pharmacy department to ensure it remains clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Use pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and drug information.
- Process sales at the cash register and support patient care services like medication therapy management.
- Report prescription errors immediately and follow all company policies regarding safety and conduct.
- Complete all required training and stay updated on pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Six months of retail experience is preferred.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens is a plus.
- Strong math skills for accurate counting, weighing, and measuring of prescriptions.
