About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work on-site in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to support pharmacy operations and patient care. This role involves balancing clinical responsibilities with retail management tasks, ensuring that our pharmacy runs efficiently while providing high-quality service to our customers.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers, including guidance on medication usage, drug interactions, and preventive healthcare.
- Handle the compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with workflow optimization, inventory management, and financial performance.
- Engage with customers to resolve issues and share service best practices.
- Perform clinical and wellness services, such as immunizations, flu shots, and diabetes awareness screenings.
- Use pharmacy systems like Intercom Plus, registers, and StoreNET to support daily operations.
- Process insurance claims and follow up with medical providers to clarify prescriptions, dosages, and refills.
- Build relationships with the local medical community, including physicians and nurses.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with staff hiring, training, and coaching.
- Stay current on pharmacy and healthcare developments through journals and company publications.
What you'll need#
- Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution before your start date.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the state Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Status as a Certified Immunizer, or a willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
