About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain practical experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will assist the pharmacy team with daily operations, patient interactions, and prescription processing. This is a part-time, paid position based in DeRidder, Louisiana.
What you'll do#
- Support the pharmacy team by processing prescriptions and managing patient information using pharmacy systems.
- Engage with patients by greeting them, answering questions, and helping resolve issues.
- Assist pharmacists in delivering patient care services, such as medication therapy management and blood pressure screenings, within your state scope of practice.
- Handle inventory management tasks, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
- Register sales at the cash register and handle telephone inquiries.
- Follow all state, federal, and company policies, including those related to asset protection and prescription safety.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Complete all required training and stay informed on pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
