About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will learn to provide patient care while assisting the pharmacist and pharmacy team. You will use pharmacy systems to manage patient information and process prescriptions. This role helps you develop the skills and knowledge needed to perform as a future pharmacist while you gain hands-on experience in a retail setting.
What you'll do#
- Engage with patients by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Build strong relationships with customers and offer proactive assistance.
- Assist pharmacists with patient care and services within the state scope of practice.
- Process prescriptions, including data entry, third party processing, filling, and dispensing.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention.
- Manage inventory activities, such as ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Register sales on the cash register and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and the pharmacy code of conduct.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
