About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. This role focuses on learning pharmacy operations, assisting with patient care, and developing the skills needed for a career as a pharmacist. You will work on-site in a full-time capacity.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy team with daily operations, including prescription entry, processing, filling, and dispensing.
- Use pharmacy systems to manage patient records and drug information.
- Engage with customers by answering questions, resolving issues, and providing proactive service.
- Support patient counseling and health services such as blood pressure monitoring and medication therapy management.
- Handle cash register transactions and manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering and unpacking shipments.
- Maintain the pharmacy department by keeping it clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Report prescription errors immediately and follow all company policies, including the Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing guidelines.
- Manage incoming telephone calls and assist with general pharmacy maintenance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
