About the role#
This is a full-time, on-site Pharmacy Graduate Intern position based in Chicago, Illinois. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to fulfill State Board of Pharmacy requirements. This role focuses on clinical pharmacy activities, patient consultation, and operational support within a retail pharmacy environment.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding medication usage, drug interactions, and preventive healthcare.
- Perform clinical tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
- Administer preventive healthcare services such as immunizations.
- Support pharmacy workflow, including opening and closing duties and shift transitions.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with inventory management, financial optimization, and staff hiring or training.
- Process insurance claims and participate in 3rd party audits.
- Collaborate with medical providers to clarify prescriptions and resolve medication issues.
- Engage in community outreach activities to promote pharmacy services.
- Maintain proficiency in pharmacy information technology systems.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university outside the United States.
- Foreign Pharmacist Graduate Equivalency Certificate (FPGEC).
- An intern permit or certificate issued by the respective Board of Pharmacy, if required by your state.
- Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the Board of Pharmacy in the states within the district within 45 days of completing intern hours.
- Must be a certified immunizer or willing to become one within 90 days of hire.
