About the role#
This is a paid, full-time Pharmacy Graduate Intern position based in Elgin, Illinois. You will work on-site to complete post-graduate pharmacy activities under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role supports the requirements of the State Board of Pharmacy while providing hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
What you'll do#
- Engage with customers by greeting them, offering assistance, and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Counsel patients on medicine usage, side effects, drug interactions, and over-the-counter products.
- Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
- Review, interpret, and accurately dispense prescribed medications.
- Support pharmacy workflow, including opening and closing duties and shift changes.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with inventory management, financial optimization, and staff training.
- Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and flu shots.
- Maintain proficiency in pharmacy systems like Intercom Plus, registers, and StoreNET.
- Ensure pharmacy operations comply with all regulations and company policies.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university outside the United States.
- A Foreign Pharmacist Graduate Equivalency Certificate (FPGEC).
- An intern permit or certificate issued by the Board of Pharmacy, if required by your state.
- A willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure within 45 days of completing your intern hours.
- Current certification as an immunizer, or the willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
