About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Pharmacy Graduate Intern position. You will work on-site in San Carlos, California, engaging in post-graduate pharmacy activities under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role helps you fulfill State Board of Pharmacy requirements while you gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding medication usage, drug interactions, and preventive healthcare.
- Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
- Support pharmacy workflow by assisting the pharmacy manager with financials, inventory management, and customer experience.
- Counsel patients on side effects, contraindications, and general medicine usage.
- Ensure pharmacy operations follow all regulations and company policies.
- Process insurance claims accurately and follow up with medical providers to clarify prescriptions or allergies.
- Deliver clinical and wellness services, such as immunizations and flu shots.
- Assist with staff training and performance coaching.
- Participate in community outreach activities to promote pharmacy services.
- Maintain knowledge of pharmacy systems like Intercom Plus, registers, and StoreNET.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university outside the United States.
- A Foreign Pharmacist Graduate Equivalency Certificate (FPGEC).
- An intern permit or certificate issued by the Board of Pharmacy, if required by your state.
- A willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure in the district within 45 days of completing your intern hours.
- Certification as an immunizer, or a willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
