About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Duane Reade, you will support the pharmacy team while gaining hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to assist with daily operations, patient care, and prescription processing. This role focuses on learning pharmacy policies and customer service standards while preparing for your future career as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Greet customers and patients, answer questions, and resolve issues to provide helpful service.
- Process prescriptions and manage patient information using pharmacy systems.
- Assist pharmacists with patient care services within the state scope of practice, such as medication therapy management or blood pressure screenings.
- Handle cash transactions and register sales at the pharmacy counter.
- Manage inventory by ordering, unpacking, and organizing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy department.
- Complete required training and stay updated on pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
