About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Duane Reade, you will learn to provide patient care while assisting the pharmacist and pharmacy team. This role focuses on gaining practical experience in pharmacy operations, customer service, and clinical tasks under the supervision of a pharmacist. You will follow state and federal regulations while developing the skills needed for a future career in pharmacy.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist with processing prescriptions, entering data, and dispensing medications.
- Engage with patients by answering questions, resolving issues, and offering assistance with products.
- Help with patient counseling and health services like blood pressure checks and medication therapy management.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by ordering, unpacking, and organizing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Handle telephone calls and register sales at the cash register.
- Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy department.
- Complete all required training and stay current on healthcare developments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
