About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Duane Reade, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work directly under the supervision of a pharmacist to learn the daily operations of the pharmacy department. This role focuses on developing your skills in patient care, prescription processing, and pharmacy compliance while you complete your pharmacy education.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy team in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Enter, process, fill, and dispense prescriptions using pharmacy systems.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Support patient care services, including medication therapy management and health screenings.
- Help with inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Handle cash register transactions and sales.
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment.
- Report any prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
- Manage telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of a pharmacist.
- Complete all required training and stay current on pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
