Verne Robotics is seeking an Engineering Intern to work at the intersection of software, hardware, and robotics. You will join the team in our South San Francisco lab to prototype new capabilities, improve system reliability, and deploy automation technology. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to core engineering projects that support our fleet of robot arms and sensors, with the potential to transition into a full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement manipulation algorithms on real and simulated robot platforms.
- Run experiments on physical robot arms and improve tele-operation and control systems.
- Collaborate with the founding team on projects involving perception, control, and systems integration.
- Develop infrastructure for testing, data visualization, and the reproducibility of experiments.
- Perform hands-on hardware tasks, including assembling robots, swapping sensors, and maintaining fleet operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS, MS, or PhD program in Robotics, Computer Science, AI, or a related field (including Electrical, Mechanical, Biomedical, or Industrial Engineering).
- Hands-on experience with robotic systems like Franka, UR, or Kinova, or simulators such as PyBullet or Mujoco.
- Familiarity with modern policy learning techniques, including imitation learning, reinforcement learning, or diffusion policies.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with PyTorch.

- Location: On-site in South San Francisco, California.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $1.6K – $2.5K per week.
- Duration: 12 weeks.
