About the role#
Venerable is a variable annuity business offering summer internships within our IT organization. These roles focus on application development, technology innovation, and security operations. You will work alongside mentors and IT professionals to contribute to meaningful projects and gain exposure to senior leadership. This is a full-time, paid position for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Participate in agile ceremonies and cross-functional team meetings.
- Collaborate with developers, data scientists, and programming teams on application development.
- Help with troubleshooting issues and providing technical support.
- Contribute to building APIs, microservices, and automation solutions.
- Document technical processes, standards, and approaches.
- Support prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, and evaluation of AI outputs.
- Work on projects related to annuity policy service operations.
- Support SCM, CI/CD, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.
- Execute tasks for incident response team members and support threat intelligence and security engineering teams.
- Familiarize yourself with cloud environments and modern development practices.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a four-year bachelor's degree as a sophomore, junior, or senior.
- Majors in Computer Science or Data Science.
- Familiarity with programming languages including Python, Java, JavaScript, and HTML/DHTML.
- Understanding of REST APIs, cloud platforms, and containerization using Docker.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- A minimum GPA of 3.5 for the Business Application Development track.
- General knowledge and lab experience with cybersecurity tools.
- Basic understanding of operating system configuration for Windows, Unix, and Linux, along with networking fundamentals.
- Exposure to Gen-AI tools like OpenAI, Hugging Face, or LangChain is a plus.
