About the role#
As an Investment Analyst, you will work within a small, flat team to research and evaluate investment opportunities for a $16 billion endowment portfolio. You will collaborate directly with senior management to assess global investment themes and monitor the performance of our external fund managers. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial support of the University of Virginia through research and analysis.
What you'll do#
- Research global investment themes and conduct due diligence on external managers across various asset classes.
- Perform quantitative analysis to evaluate both current and prospective investment managers.
- Participate in diligence meetings, including domestic and international travel to visit managers onsite.
- Prepare and present investment recommendations alongside senior staff members.
- Attend internal investment committee meetings and provide independent opinions.
- Source, evaluate, and track new investment opportunities.
- Analyze existing portfolio holdings and track them against expectations.
- Assess risks and opportunities for strategies across public and private markets.
- Complete special projects as assigned by senior management.
What you'll need#
- An undergraduate degree, preferably in finance, economics, mathematics, data science, or engineering disciplines.
- Excellent academic credentials.
- Between 0 and 2 years of professional experience, with investment-related work preferred.
- A demonstrated passion for investing and global markets.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- A high level of curiosity, professionalism, and integrity.
- The ability to work independently and be resourceful.
- A willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- A willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Charlottesville, Virginia.
