The University of Toronto is seeking a Sessional Lecturer for the module 'Handling an Internship Offer' (CSC2703HY), part of the MScAc degree program. This position is for a 0.1 FCE load, co-taught with a faculty member, focusing on technical entrepreneurship and career preparation for students in STEM fields. The appointment runs from February 9, 2027, to March 6, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Plan lectures, tutorials, assignments, tests, and marking schemes for the module.
- Deliver module material to students.
- Maintain a module website and provide contact time outside of class through office hours and digital communication.
- Manage and submit all module grades, ensuring timely feedback.
- Supervise teaching assistants and coordinate with the MScAC Program Team on syllabus and assessment development.
- Consult with faculty members or the Academic Director regarding any substantial changes to content or assessment methods.
What you'll need#
- A graduate degree in a STEM or relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience teaching scientific communication methods, such as writing, public speaking, and interpersonal communication.
- Extensive experience in a technology company or innovation-focused environment.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with superior communication abilities.
- Preferred: Experience in progressively senior leadership roles, particularly involving hiring and negotiating internship offers, and a track record of teaching excellence.
Location & details#
- Location: St. George Campus, Toronto, Ontario.
- Work Modality: On-site (biweekly Wednesdays, 6:00pm-9:00pm).
- Term: Winter 2027 (appointment specific to Feb 9 – Mar 6, 2027).
- Compensation: This is a paid position with salary rates determined by the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.
