About the role#
The University of Toronto is seeking a Sessional Instructional Assistant for the Forensic Science internship course (FSC481Y5Y). This role supports students in a capstone experience where they gain professional and research exposure through placements in public agencies, private organizations, or university labs. The position is a paid, on-site appointment for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Review and grade student ethics applications and research proposals.
- Provide constructive feedback on student proposals and formal presentations.
- Conduct mock interviews to prepare students for professional work.
- Assist students in developing professional standards within the field of forensic science.
- Provide ongoing support to students throughout their research projects.
What you'll need#
- A completed Master's degree in Forensic Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Documented research experience, including familiarity with UTM ethics review protocols and research proposal development.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- The ability to attend scheduled classes in person.
- A genuine interest in scientific research and experience with project management.
- Preferred candidates have a background in teaching, marking, or field experience, particularly those with a B.Sc. in Forensic Science from UTM.
