About the role#
The University of Rochester is looking for a Pharmacy Intern to join our Long-Term Care Pharmacy team. This is a per diem position located on-site in Rochester, New York. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to support medication management and pharmacy operations.
What you'll do#
- Prepare, compound, and dispense medications and prescriptions.
- Troubleshoot issues with medication dispensing systems.
- Manage stock levels, organize inventory, rotate products, and remove expired items.
- Maintain automated dispensing systems and delivery methods.
- Assist with controlled substance management and safety procedures.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies and industry regulations.
- Document safety checks, logs, and compliance measures.
- Participate in quality assurance and operational improvement initiatives.
- Engage in service recovery and ongoing professional development.
What you'll need#
- Completion of the first professional year of study in an ACPE program or graduation from a non-accredited program with a passing NAPLEX score and board approval.
- A valid NYS Limited (Intern) Permit.
- Foreign graduates must provide a determination of equivalent training accepted by the NYS Board of Pharmacy.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and solve problems.
