About the role#
This Nurse Extern position on the 3 South Post Op/Pediatrics unit offers nursing students the opportunity to gain clinical experience. You will work under the direction of RNs and LPNs to provide direct and indirect patient care. This is a PRN role with shifts from 6p to 6a.
What you'll do#
- Assist patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living.
- Observe patient conditions, including vital signs, feeding patterns, and elimination.
- Implement components of the care plan by completing delegated procedures.
- Perform skilled procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Maintain a clean, hazard-free environment for patients.
- Complete clerical tasks and assist with the maintenance of supplies.
- Follow all infection control and safety guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited LPN nursing program, having completed at least the first semester of coursework.
- Current BLS certification.
- A nursing skills checklist completed by your nursing instructor.
- A recommendation from nursing faculty.
- Previous experience as a nursing assistant is helpful but not required.

- This role is located in Searcy, Arkansas.
- The position is on-site and PRN.
- This is a safety-sensitive position, which excludes individuals actively using medical marijuana.
