About the role#
The United States Air Force is hiring a Child Development Specialist to support programs for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. This role focuses on developing, administering, and evaluating educational activities while ensuring staff are well-trained. You will work within an Air Force environment, helping to manage daily operations and resource planning.
What you'll do#
- Assist the child development center director in managing and evaluating programs.
- Work with training and curriculum specialists to build activity plans for children.
- Train Child Development Program Assistants and clerical staff using established materials.
- Advise the Family Day Care Coordinator on provider training and help develop training tools.
- Maintain a training and resource library for the program.
- Help direct the work of cooks, food service workers, and custodial staff.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor's degree in education or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
- One year of specialized experience at the GS-05 level or equivalent.
- Knowledge of child development theories, instructional methods, and curriculum development.
- Ability to analyze program issues and create effective action plans.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to pass a physical examination and meet Federal employment suitability standards.
- Completion of 52 weeks of Federal Time-In-Grade at the GS-05 level or higher.

- Locations: Vandenberg AFB (CA), Schriever AFB (CO), Eglin AFB (FL), Hurlburt Field (FL), Andrews AFB (MD), Minot AFB (ND), Wright-Patterson AFB (OH), and Tinker AFB (OK).
