About the role#
The United Nations is seeking a Public Information Intern for the Arabic Unit within the Department of Global Communications. This role offers hands-on experience in a busy newsroom environment, focusing on the production of daily news, in-depth features, and multimedia content. The internship is full-time for a minimum of 2 months, with the possibility of extending up to 6 months. The start date is February 2027.
What you'll do#
- Draft Arabic news articles by integrating and translating information from reports, official statements, and resolutions.
- Assist with fact-checking and background research for ongoing projects.
- Support the production of graphic, visual, and audio content.
- Conduct research and interviews to draft feature stories.
- Review the partnerships database and collaborate with the UN Partnerships Unit to identify new digital media partners.
- Perform outreach and other administrative duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or completion of a graduate program, or the final year of a first university degree, in communications, journalism, international relations, public administration, English, or translation studies.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic.
- Proficiency in standard word processing and spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- A demonstrated interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- The ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Location & details#
- This position is based in New York, NY, with hybrid or remote work options available.
- This is an unpaid internship.
- Candidates are responsible for all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses.
