About the role#
As a Therapy Intern at UCAN, you will work under the guidance of a licensed professional. You will provide psychotherapy services to clients in a community-based setting. This role involves direct client interaction and collaboration with various social service agencies and community partners. You may also provide in-home counseling services.
What you'll do#
- Conduct mental health assessments by interviewing clients and relevant contacts.
- Identify client needs and set goals for their care.
- Deliver individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapy.
- Maintain accurate case files, including written reports and progress notes.
- Coordinate with caseworkers, schools, and health organizations to share information.
- Attend team meetings, supervision sessions, and training workshops.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 2nd year Master program in Psychology, Sociology, or Public Health.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to special populations, including experience with the LGBTQ population.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.

- The internship is a full-time, paid position.
