About the role#
The Camp Simulations Specialist provides supervision, guidance, and instruction to camp trainees. You will manage simulated space missions and ensure that all participants have a safe, organized, and educational experience. This is a part-time, paid internship role.
What you'll do#
- Train and facilitate simulated space missions based on the NASA shuttle program.
- Operate large scale simulations from a computer console.
- Supervise, guide, and instruct camp trainees in a team setting.
- Conduct lectures and briefings on space, robotics, and aviation.
- Teach trainees how to operate mission software and hardware.
- Assist in weekly registration, graduation, and coordination of trainees.
- Escort trainees and maintain an orderly learning environment.
- Provide support for after-hours habitat monitoring, meals, and logistical preparation.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 19 years old.
- Completion of at least 20 hours of college credit is preferred, though professional experience may substitute.
- Excellent communication and instructional skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for 4 to 6 hours at a time.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments during hot summer temperatures.
- Comfort operating simulators and ropes course elements.
- Must pass a drug and alcohol screen, criminal background check, and child abuse/neglect registry check.
- Majors in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics are relevant to this work.

- Location: Huntsville, Alabama.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Rolling term with shifts that may include days, nights, weekends, or overnights.
