About the role#
TriMas Corporation is hiring a Software Engineering Intern to build a system that handles financial data. You will work on ingesting data from various file formats, standardizing it, and creating tools to compare financial statements. This role supports financial planning and analysis by improving how the team reviews data and identifies variances. This is a part-time, on-site position requiring 15 to 20 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop a system to extract, transform, and load financial data from sources like Excel, CSV, PDFs, and ERP exports.
- Build models to normalize data and map accounts across different datasets.
- Create functionality to compare financial statements, identify variances, and highlight inconsistencies.
- Develop user-friendly outputs, including dashboards and automated reports.
- Integrate your solution with existing tools such as Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems.
- Collaborate with finance stakeholders to refine business logic and requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Knowledge of data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Experience with data modeling and normalization techniques.
- Familiarity with financial statements and variance analysis.
- Proficiency in developing data validation and reconciliation logic.
- Ability to work with cross-functional finance stakeholders.
