About the role#
Trilon is hiring a Civil Engineering intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Rockford, Illinois. You will report to a Project Manager and work on a variety of municipal and environmental engineering projects.
What you'll do#
Your primary responsibility is to assist with construction observation, which includes measuring quantities and verifying that construction meets required standards. You will also review and edit engineering plans to ensure they align with company standards.
Office duties include:
- Sharpening your CAD skills.
- Completing basic design computations.
- Helping the team prepare project deliverables.
- Learning how engineering standards and local or state regulations apply to design.
You will collaborate with engineers and environmental scientists across office and field settings. There is also an opportunity for exposure to surveying work. This role is designed to help you develop leadership skills and gain autonomy in your work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate, four-year degree program in Civil Engineering.
- Familiarity with reading blueprints.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- A self-starter attitude and a desire to learn.
