About the role#
Tranquility Veterinary Clinic offers externship and preceptorship opportunities for students enrolled in DVM programs. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice setting to help you prepare for your career. You will work alongside our veterinary team under the supervision of a mentor doctor to meet your specific learning goals and college requirements.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Scrub in to surgery and assist in managing cases.
- Provide wellness care to patients.
- Develop client communication skills.
- Produce medical records, including SOAPs, within daily practice time limits.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- Familiarity with the Veterinary Practice Act and required supervision standards.
- Professional dress and conduct consistent with our team standards.

- Location: Tranquility, New Jersey.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time availability required, including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Duration: Flexible, typically two to eight weeks.
- Compensation: A stipend of $250 per week is provided.
