Student - Lifeguard & Instructor

About the role#

The Town of Tillsonburg is hiring twenty Lifeguard & Instructors for the summer season. This role focuses on ensuring the safety of pool patrons and delivering swimming instruction. Employees will work up to 40 hours per week during the summer months and are required to return to school in the fall. A criminal record check, and a vulnerable sector check for those over eighteen, is required for this position.

What you'll do#

• Provide instruction and lifeguard supervision for all aquatic programs.
• Develop lesson plans and administer required evaluations for students.
• Maintain daily records, including attendance, progress reports, and test sheets.
• Ensure the pool area and recreation facilities remain clean and sanitary.
• Report all accidents, incidents, or concerns to the Program Coordinator.
• Attend all scheduled staff training sessions and meetings.
• Wear the required staff uniform while on duty and follow all municipal policies.

What you'll need#

• Current Lifesaving Society Learn to Swim and Lifesaving Instructors certification.
• National Lifeguard Certification.
• Standard First Aid + CPR C.
• Excellent customer service and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.
• Advanced Provincial Trainer Status in First Aid, Lifeguard Training, or Instructor Training is considered an asset.
