Student - Recreation Program Staff

About the role#

The Town of Tillsonburg is seeking eight Recreation Program Staff to join the Community Center team. This role involves supervising and instructing participants across various programs, including youth activities, day camps, public skates, and Health Club facilities. This is a part-time, paid position offering up to 20 hours per week with an option to enroll in the OMERS defined pension plan.

What you'll do#

• Facilitate and instruct recreation activities, ensuring programs are inclusive and adaptable.
• Monitor participant conduct and provide ongoing supervision to ensure safety and well-being.
• Manage admissions, maintain attendance records, and verify that participants are registered and following payment procedures.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized recreation areas, including completing necessary cleaning and program logs.
• Open and close the Health Club, with shift availability required between 5:30 am and 9:00 pm.
• Supervise public skates, including on-ice duties.
• Implement assigned activity plans and communicate equipment needs to the Program Coordinator.
• Attend all scheduled staff meetings and training sessions.

What you'll need#

• Current status as a High School Student.
• Standard First Aid with CPR Level C certification (or the ability to obtain it).
• HIGH FIVE training in the Principles of Healthy Child Development (or the ability to obtain it).
• Experience working with children.
• Ability to swim and skate is preferred.
• Proficiency in facilitating activities such as sports, crafts, dance, gymnastics, or skating.
• Ability to learn new software programs and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends.
• Successful completion of a Police Record Check is required.

• Compensation: $17.60 per hour.
