About the role#
This internship provides practical work experience for students to integrate academic theory with real world practice. It is a paid, non-sworn position that requires 8 to 24 hours of work per week. You will work across Criminal Investigations, Support Services, and Operations bureaus. The role involves physical activity, including walking, standing, and occasionally lifting items weighing up to 60 pounds.
What you'll do#
- Prepare statistical and narrative reports and correspondence.
- Research historical statistical data regarding calls for service.
- Plan and execute various projects for the Police department.
- Conduct research by examining government records and using the internet.
- Perform statistical analysis.
- Represent the Mount Pleasant Police Department in the community at public functions.
- Assist the office of recruitment and retention with statistical research.
- Coordinate and direct the activities of other staff members on project assignments.
- Provide customer service by offering information and directions.
- Handle routine office duties such as answering phones and taking messages.
- Take reports from citizens for non-criminal to misdemeanor incidents.

- The internship must be approved by the Mount Pleasant Police Department, the applicant, and your college or university.
