Intern- Engineering

About the role#

This engineering internship provides technical support for industrial systems projects. You will assist with software design for control solutions and hardware design for electrical distribution and control systems. This role is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Roanoke, Virginia, for the Fall 2026 term.

What you'll do#

• Gather information from authorized sources to assess project requirements.
• Create and document industrial controller or computer-based software modules to meet control functionality and work progress targets.
• Conduct simulations to verify that software modules satisfy design and project requirements.
• Create electrical drawings using CAD software, including electrical circuits, AC and DC drives, power distribution, and I/O equipment.
• Edit and update project drawings to reflect manufacturing, as-shipped, and final as-installed configurations.

What you'll need#

• High school diploma.
• Current enrollment in a BSEE, BSCPE, or BSME program (or related field) with completed coursework in control automation.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to travel domestically up to approximately 5%, sometimes with limited notice.
