This internship provides technical support for software and hardware design within the Energy and Infrastructure Solutions department. You will assist in developing control solutions that meet specific client requirements and project goals. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Houston, Texas, for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Gather project requirements from authorized sources to define the scope of work.
- Create and document industrial controller or computer-based software modules and HMI software to meet functionality targets.
- Conduct simulations to verify that software modules satisfy design requirements.
- Draft electrical drawings for circuits, AC and DC drives, power distribution, and PC/PLC I/O using CAD software.
- Produce mechanical panel layouts and update project drawings to reflect final configurations.
- Collaborate with management to identify and resolve client issues, track project performance, and report business unit data.
- Manage document revisions and archiving in accordance with project procedures.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Coursework concentration in control automation, such as control system theory, robotics, mechatronics, or electrical power systems.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to build successful working relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 5% of the time, occasionally on short notice.
