About the role#
The Ultrasound Extern assists with general, ob-gyn, and vascular exams. You will work under the supervision of a registered diagnostic sonographer to gain experience in a clinical setting. This role involves maintaining safety and quality standards while supporting the daily operations of the department.
What you'll do#
- Implement imaging techniques using established protocols.
- Evaluate studies for diagnostic quality and manage patient images.
- Triage and prioritize patients while maintaining order accuracy.
- Complete documentation in the EMR accurately and on time.
- Practice patient safety, including infection prevention and proper handling techniques.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program.
- Previous hospital experience.
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move freely throughout the facility.
