About the role#
This co-op position offers hands-on experience in the full product design lifecycle, from initial concept through detailed design, prototyping, and testing. You will support the engineering team in developing products that meet performance, cost, and manufacturing requirements.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, modeling, and drafting of mechanical or electrical components and assemblies using CAD software.
- Conduct engineering analysis, such as stress, thermal, tolerance, or electrical analysis, to ensure designs meet specifications and safety standards.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications following industry standards and GD&T principles.
- Build, test, and validate prototypes and test fixtures, then analyze test data to make necessary design modifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, to ensure designs are cost-effective and manufacturable.
- Participate in design reviews, contribute technical documentation, research new materials or processes, and perform root cause analysis on design issues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a closely related field.
- Completion of at least two years of engineering coursework prior to the start date.
- Demonstrated proficiency with at least one major 3D CAD software package.
- Strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles, including mechanics, materials science, and thermodynamics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
