The Respiratory Therapy Student Staff role supports the delivery of safe and effective patient care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Working under the supervision of a licensed Respiratory Therapist, you will assist in clinical procedures, patient education, and equipment management while gaining hands-on experience in a hospital environment.
What you'll do#
- Administer, monitor, and assess respiratory care for patients across all developmental levels, from neonatal to geriatric.
- Educate patients and their families on cardio-respiratory topics, including medications, equipment, and procedures.
- Apply respiratory care protocols using independent judgment and professional discretion within your scope of practice.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers to ensure quality care.
- Assist with patient ambulation and the transport of ventilators and other medical equipment throughout the campus.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of at least two semesters of clinical training in an associate or baccalaureate degree program in Respiratory Care.
- Current Student License with the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
- Valid RCP student permit license from the State of Kansas Board of Healing Arts.
- Preferred: Completion of all basic science courses required for the RRT credential.
