About the role#
The Respiratory Therapy Student Staff role supports the delivery of safe and effective patient care. You will assist licensed Respiratory Therapists by performing clinical tasks, executing protocols, and educating patients and families. This position requires the ability to work effectively in a clinical environment while maintaining a patient-centered focus.
What you'll do#
- Administer, monitor, and assess the effectiveness of respiratory care for inpatients and outpatients of all ages under supervision.
- Apply respiratory care protocols using independent judgment and professional initiative within your scope of practice.
- Educate patients and their families on cardio-respiratory topics, medications, equipment, and procedures.
- Communicate clearly with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members.
- Assist with patient ambulation and transport ventilators and other medical equipment throughout the campus.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of at least two semesters of clinical training in an associate or baccalaureate Respiratory Care program.
- Valid Student License and RCP student permit from the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.
- Ability to react appropriately and professionally under high-stress situations.
- Completion of all basic science courses required for the RRT credential is preferred.
