About the role#
The Standard offers a summer internship program for students interested in the actuarial profession. You will work within one of our actuarial teams, such as Employee Benefits, Retirement Plans, Individual Disability Insurance, Individual Annuities, Actuarial Transformation, or Corporate Actuarial and Risk Management. This program provides exposure to insurance products and actuarial functions while allowing you to work alongside experienced professionals. At the end of the summer, you will lead a presentation for actuarial leaders to share your projects and learnings.
What you'll do#
- Assist with product development, pricing, and valuation tasks.
- Conduct experience studies and support monthly or quarterly financial reporting.
- Perform production reporting and systems testing.
- Work on process automation and modeling projects.
- Participate in networking events and speaker series to learn about other operational areas like IT, Underwriting, and Marketing.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student, specifically rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, or students pursuing advanced degrees.
- A major in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills developed through coursework or previous experience.
- Familiarity with MS Excel, MS Access, SQL, or Python.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is primarily remote, though office access may be available if circumstances allow.
- Pay ranges from $23.50 to $27.00 per hour, depending on the number of actuarial exams passed.
- Benefits include three days of paid time off, paid holidays, and necessary equipment like a laptop and monitor.
