About the role#
The Roskamp Institute is hiring a Research Associate/Student for a 4-year project focused on Alzheimer’s disease research. You will join a translational team investigating how genetic and metabolic factors influence late-onset Alzheimer’s disease and cerebrovascular decline. The work involves cross-scale validation using pharmacologic and genetic interventions in mouse models and 3D humanized cell-based microfluidic brain-chip platforms.
What you'll do#
- Culture and analyze cellular and microfluidic brain-chip samples.
- Isolate and analyze rodent tissue samples.
- Investigate mutagenic and environmental risk factors using a humanized mouse platform.
- Perform antibody-based analytical approaches such as immunoblotting, ELISA, and MSD assays.
- Conduct activity assays, including metabolic measurements and oxidative stress testing.
- Handle rodents for glymphatic, cerebrovascular, and behavioral studies.
- Analyze the blood-brain barrier for permeability, leukocyte adhesion, and waste elimination.
- Study cerebrovascular function, including capillary stalling, hypoperfusion, and blood flow reactivity.
- Execute neuropathological and angioarchitectural analyses using microscopy and immunohistochemistry.
What you'll need#
- A Master’s degree in a scientific field, or a Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated scientific laboratory experience.
- Academic background in Biology or Biomedical Sciences.
