About the role#
The Learning Lamp is seeking a Child Care Staff member for an HGA Externship at our Johnstown location. This is a part-time, paid position that offers a flexible schedule within our operating hours of Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. This role is ideal for students or individuals pursuing fields such as Psychology, Nursing, Public Health, Human Resources, Sociology, or Criminal Justice.
What you'll do#
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times while supervising indoor and outdoor activities.
- Assist with daily care routines including feeding, diapering, and toileting.
- Plan and conduct engaging educational games, arts and crafts, and developmental activities.
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding daily activities and child progress.
- Keep accurate records of observations, incidents, and daily activities.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with children.
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.
- Current CPR and first aid certification.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks including sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
