Child Care Staff- HGA Extern

About the role#

The Learning Lamp is seeking a Child Care Staff member for an HGA Extern position at our Johnstown, Pennsylvania location. This part-time, paid role is ideal for students or individuals interested in gaining experience in early childhood education. We offer flexible scheduling options between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

What you'll do#

• Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times while supervising indoor and outdoor activities.
• Assist with daily care routines including feeding, diapering, and toileting.
• Plan and conduct engaging educational games, arts and crafts, and other developmental activities.
• Maintain open communication with parents regarding daily activities and child progress.
• Keep accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and observations.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with children.
• Current CPR and first aid certification.
• Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
• Preferred majors include Psychology, Nursing, Public Health, Human Resources, Sociology, or Criminal Justice.
