About the role#
Summer Fellows support the physical and emotional well-being of students during the Summer Portals program. You will act as a primary resource for academic and personal needs while fostering a safe and inclusive community. This is a full-time, on-site residential position running from June 21, 2027, through July 25, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a week-long staff orientation starting June 21, 2027.
- Assist with registration and departure day duties in residential dormitories.
- Counsel, support, and guide students throughout the program.
- Serve as a Teacher Assistant for academic enrichment courses.
- Lead afternoon group activities, including sports, yoga, hiking, and swimming.
- Supervise meals in the dining hall and monitor evening activities like movies and lectures.
- Check students into the dormitory nightly.
- Serve as an advisor to approximately 15-20 students, including daily meetings and providing written feedback on their progress and growth.
- Communicate emergent student needs to the Director of Residential Life.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma required, some college preferred.
- Previous leadership experience in supporting adolescents.
- Ability to live in residence for the full duration of the program.
- Stamina, resiliency, and the physical ability to lead and participate in activities.
- Friendly, approachable demeanor with compassion for students living away from home.
- Ability to complete online modules for CPR/AED, Sexual Harassment Prevention, and Mandated Reporter Training before arrival.
- Professional Rescuer or Lifeguard certification is highly desirable.
