R&D Intern - Summer 2026

About the role#

As a Research and Development Intern at The H-J Family of Companies, you will gain hands-on experience working with engineering and product development teams. This role provides exposure to the innovation process, from initial design concepts to prototyping and testing. You will work in a collaborative environment on projects that support the development of new products and processes for the power distribution industry.

What you'll do#

• Create models and detailed drawings of design concepts.
• Build prototypes of new product ideas.
• Assist in the development and testing of new products and processes.
• Research new technologies and summarize findings for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineers on cross-functional projects.

What you'll need#

• Completion of at least two years in an Engineering program, with a preference for Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Experience in building, prototyping, or machining is considered an asset.
• Ability to work on-site at the St. Louis, Missouri facility.
