About the role#
This internship program supports students completing clinical requirements for a Master’s degree in Counselling, Clinical Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Interns provide individual, couple, family, and group therapy services. You will work within the Drop-In Single-Session Counselling program and offer subsidized ongoing therapy. This role includes opportunities to support clients in schools and requires a commitment of at least 20 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Support adults, couples, families, and minors in their healing and therapeutic goals.
- Build trusting relationships with clients using a solid theoretical base.
- Connect clients with community resources.
- Advocate for clients who cannot do so themselves.
- Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time.
- Videotape client sessions for clinical supervision.
- Attend individual, group, and consultation supervision meetings.
What you'll need#
- You are currently completing a Master’s Degree in Counselling, Clinical Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience in face-to-face work with vulnerable adults, children, or families.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong computer literacy including Microsoft, Google Drive, and online databases.
- Attention to detail, time management, and self-care practices.
- Successful completion of a Police Information Check and Child Intervention Records Check.
- Completion of Trans Wellness Initiative Introduction to Affirming Spaces training prior to starting.
- ASIST Suicide Intervention Training or a similar program within two months of starting.
