About the role#
The 2027 Summer Internship at The Donohoe Companies provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the real estate and construction industry. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Bethesda, Maryland. You will work as part of a team on projects ranging from $40MM to $100MM.
What you'll do#
- Provide administrative and technical support for multiple construction projects, including document organization, submittals, and RFIs.
- Assist in coordinating field operations and supervising specific project phases to ensure compliance with contract documents and schedules.
- Perform daily safety inspections to maintain a safe work environment and ensure proper use of protective equipment.
- Track and maintain subcontractor and supplier contract requirements.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent to update the project team on material and equipment shipments.
- Assist with project closeout, trade scope development, and the preparation of daily work reports.
- Participate in weekly subcontractor foreman meetings and build professional relationships with suppliers and team members.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program, preferably in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, Environmental Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Previous internship experience in construction management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a basic understanding of project management software.
- Ability to read blueprints and a foundational knowledge of construction methods and procedures.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- A desire to learn and the ability to adapt to changing project needs.
